Position Overview:
The Aerospace Technology - Spacecraft Technician is a highly specialized role responsible for the assembly, maintenance, repair, and testing of spacecraft components and systems. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the successful functioning and performance of space exploration missions. The Spacecraft Technician works closely with a team of engineers and other technicians to meet project objectives and maintain the highest standards of safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assemble and integrate spacecraft components according to engineering specifications and blueprints.
2. Conduct thorough inspections and functional tests of spacecraft systems to ensure compliance with design requirements.
3. Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting of spacecraft equipment, subsystems, and instruments.
4. Collaborate with engineers and technicians in the development and implementation of spacecraft assembly and testing procedures.
5. Maintain detailed documentation of spacecraft activities, including test results, procedures, and equipment calibration records.
6. Follow safety protocols and procedures throughout all spacecraft operations to minimize risk and ensure a safe working environment.
7. Assist in the design and fabrication of specialized tools and fixtures required for spacecraft assembly and testing.
8. Participate in pre-launch and post-launch activities, including spacecraft integration, launch support, and anomaly investigations.
9. Keep up to date with industry advancements, new technologies, and best practices in spacecraft assembly, testing, and maintenance.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. A minimum of an Associate's degree in Aerospace Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in spacecraft assembly, maintenance, and testing.
3. Strong knowledge of aerospace engineering principles and practices.
4. Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
5. Excellent mechanical aptitude and dexterity, with the ability to use a wide range of hand tools and specialized equipment.
6. Familiarity with spacecraft subsystems, including propulsion, power, thermal control, and communication systems.
7. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, collaborating with engineers, technicians, and other stakeholders.
8. Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
9. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyze complex systems and identify solutions.
